How do I open the User's Guide?

The User's Guide is in Adobe Acrobat (PDF) format. You'll need Acrobat Reader 3.0 or later to read the manual.

If you have a recent Adobe product, you'll find the Acrobat Reader on the installer CD-ROM. If not, you can download the free Reader from the Adobe web site.

When I try to create a video test pattern, Test Pattern Maker reports "error -2003". What gives?

This indicates that a QuickTime component is missing. Prior to QuickTime 4.0, when you installed QuickTime you installed all components. Now, with 4.0, you can optionally install all or some of the components.

Test Pattern Maker requires that the QuickTime Authoring and QuickTime Image extensions be present in the QuickTime Extensions folder, within the system Extensions folder.

To ensure that all necessary components are present, run the QuickTime Installer program and select Custom Install. Select the QuickTime Authoring and QuickTime Still Image options and complete the installation.
