Platforms/Versions

Color Finesse 2.1 on Macintosh OS X and Final Cut Pro 5.1.1.

Problem

When Color Finesse is used with Final Cut Pro 5.1.1 there are frequent crashes. Certain operations, such as a Paste Attributes containing an instance of Color Finesse or applying an animation preset containing Color Finesse, are almost guaranteed to crash. Crashes may happen immediately, or a short time after using Color Finesse.

Solution

This problem is caused by a bug in Final Cut Pro 5.1.1 which did not exist in prior versions of Final Cut. Updating to Final Cut Pro 5.1.2 will resolve the crashing problem.

Final Cut Pro 5.1.2 requires at least Mac OS 10.4.7 and QuickTime 7.1.3. Color Finesse 1.5.7 and 2.1.2 are certified to run with those versions.
